The directors and stewards working together to operate FLCA have a common goal. This goal is to do whatever it takes to accomplish God's will. We are certain that integration of God in education is necessary in raising Christian leaders. Many schools teach survival of the fittest to some, and to those who do not make the "first cut", the feeling is, "What is the least I can do and still graduate?" Educators should be encouraged to become involved with the moral, ethical, and spiritual side of developing a young mind. A student can be at the top of his class, do great deeds, and persevere, but if he has forgotten Jesus Christ, he is losing the greatest reward of all: eternal life and the other blessings God has in store for him! From the point of view of authority, parents/caretakers and educators spend the most time with our youth. If only for that reason, it is important that these professionals can be trusted and counted on to remind our youth to remember their First Love - Jesus Christ - in all that they do. The first way to do this is by example and then by instruction.
In John's letter to the church in Ephesus, God praises the church for its hard work, good deeds, and intolerance for the wicked (just as we see in some educational settings). Then, the revealing statement of truth culminates with Revelation 2:4, "Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your First Love." We then can flip back to Mark 12:30 and are reminded of the First Commandment, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." In conclusion, in Matthew 10:37 Jesus makes it clear who our First Love must be: "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."
Why do our students, even the top-notch ones, seem to be missing the true meaning to their lives? The answer to this is emphasized through God's Word: make sure our youth find their First Love! This is what the directors will offer at First Love Christian Academy. This is why "First Love".
